My husband isn’t the most agile and Simeon was very patient, helping him along the trickier spots. It is a pretty active experience and wouldn’t recommend for someone with issues with walking and agility. It was a blast!”

“Pickup point is actually BEHIND the building. Should be mentioned since Google maps only gets you to the front lot. Once you're in the ride takes about 30 min to get to the first stop so you can take some breathtaking photos for about 10-15 min. Then you get to the base of the glacier and gear up and you're off to the caves. There is a short hike up the glacier and then you go through a couple caves with beautiful views.”

“Our driver/guide “Snyper” was wonderful! He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout the entire excursion. This is a newer company so we were lucky to have been on the tour ourselves. It turned out being a private tour which really capped off our Iceland experience. We were the only ones in the GlacierIce Cave which was totally awesome. He also made additional stops which was not on the itinerary which made us feel like VIPs. Cruise port pickup was timely. The vehicle was very comfortable. Food/Toilet breaks very convenient.”

Ice Cave at Katla Volcano

14.Ice Cave at Katla Volcano

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 6 reviews · 3 hours (approx.) · from $348

From Vík, you ride toward Katla Volcano in a Super Jeep or 4WD vehicle, then hike to a naturally changing ice cave. Crampons, helmets, and headlamps are included. Guides such as Trym and Stefan have been praised for clear stories and good humor, but road conditions and cave access can change.

“This trip was not worth the time or money. The ice cave was not so beautiful as to make it worth the hours in an-overcrowded Ford sprinter (not a jeep) with one butt cheek hanging off the side of the bench and a large group of Americans bragging about their banking jobs. The sun was setting when we got there so the lighting was bad for photos. The tour guide let the large group do whatever they wanted, leading us to spend a long time waiting as they took photos with and without their jackets on and in different poses and combinations of people.”
