“The waterfall is spectacular, but the pathway up to the waterfall is bit rough and maybe dangerous, especially on rainy day. The local goverment should consider improving the pathway. The farm visit is very nice. Bus is new and comfortable, wifi is good. Driver is skillful. Tour guide is humorous and gives clear description. The final drop at the town centre is also good for those who wish to take a look at the small town. It is just a 15-minute walk to the cruise port.”

5.Dynjandi Waterfall Guided Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 209 reviews · from $77

Travel from Ísafjörður to Dynjandi with an English-speaking guide, following fjords, villages, mountains, and an unusual tunnel route. You get about an hour at the seven-tiered waterfall, enough for the lower walk or a tougher climb higher up. Guides such as Daniel, Danni, Micah, and Dr. Rachelle Elliott have made this more than a simple bus transfer.

“Great tour! We thought it would just be a waterfall shuttle, but our guide, Daniel, actually provided excellent commentary throughout the scenic drive, which was much appreciated. There was plenty of time at the waterfall, even for those who wanted to climb all the way to the top. And the waterfall itself is incredible and well worth the trek from Isafjordur. Just be wary - very long lines for the restrooms at the waterfall, and this will eat up a good chunk of your time!”

From Hólmavík, spend 2.5 hours seeking humpback whales with an English-speaking guide. Judith, Teresa, and the captain help you read the fjord, while warm waterproof suits keep the wind off. Expect minke whales, dolphins, and puffins from June to early August.

“This tour was amazing! It was a small group and so well curated with a very knowledgable researcher as our guide. She is the lead researcher for the bay and provided a very high quality tour. We saw so many whales (12 humpbacks and 1 Minke) and she was able to show us the whales we saw in a research catalogue which was incredible. This tour was much less crowded than the Húsavík tours we saw and was so well done. We were provided warmth suits to block the wind and truly had an incredible time. I am so glad we whale watched in Hólmavík and not in Húsavík.”
